  • Marseille in 3 words

    Solar, bubbling, authentic

  • My favourite neighbourhood

Saint-Victor. Historical district with its Abbey so famous in Marseille since it is there that the famous orange blossom shuttles are blessed every year at Candlemas, but also trendy district with great addresses for a drink and a meal.

  • My favourite area

Social networks, up to date in real time with all the news, to go out, have a bite to eat, find good music!

An original place that brings people together

Meet in a former butcher’s shop!

A few minutes’ walk from the tramway, a butcher’s shop opposite  the “Parpaing qui flotte” with an interior that is nothing like selling meat ! A chef works in  the kitchen, in front of the window overlooking the street, and next to a large wooden table that can  accomodate fifteen guests. Farah, partner of the “Parpaing”, welcomes us with good humour and introduces us to the master of the place until August 7th : Xavier Zapata. Busy in the kitchen, he serves us a good glass of white wine and Farah presents the rest of the guests. The atmosphere is friendly and everyone is eager to discover what the Chef is preparing for us tonight!

A shared table that reinforces the culinary experience

The guests don’t know each other and everyone is talking, it’s not the ideal place if you want to share a romantic moment as a couple, but it’s perfect to meet new people and especially to share  different culinary experiences and good addresses! This concept of a single table for all customers allows us to discuss the different dishes served, the ingredients and also for the Chef and his apprentice to maintain a good rhythm in the service and the cooking. All good points!

A delight for the taste buds from appetizer to dessert

Fresh and local products for refined dishes

This culinary journey lasts 7 courses and we can’t get enough of it! For our meal, the Chef opens the show with a “pan con tomato “which melts in the mouth, he then goes on with notes of the sea with different soups, including one with oysters from the Camargue, a dish based on mussels ( and surprise, they are from the region!) and white aubergine which was one of my favourite dishes of the meal. The octopus will also share the honours thanks to a perfect roasted cooking. A fish and meat dish accompanied by worshipped black rice completes this symphony of food. The chef then finishes with a fresh and flavourful dessert of “Kalamata olive tuiles”, sweet pepper compote, citrus ricotta mousse, saffron egg whites, all with chunks of peaches and watermelon.

So Camas-Sutra, shall we go?

Although the 58€ menu may frighten those on a tight budget at the start, Cama-Sutra is a real opportunity to indulge yourself with a delicate culinary journey full of flavors where you can taste gourmet dishes without  facing sometimes stuffy atmosphere. At Cama-Sutra everyone chats, discusses the dishes, asks the chef questions about the ingredients and enjoys the evening while laughing to the sound of Xavier Zapata’s playlist. We meet, we discover each other and we take full advantage of this moment of sharing and delicious gastronomy.

Practical information

The Camas-Sutra restaurant is open from Tuesday to Saturday. Reservations are required at 04 13 20 34 76. Single menu at 58€. You can discover Xavier Zapata’s cuisine until the 7th of August. The kitchen will then welcome a new chef…More to come soon.
