The Musée Regards de Provence presents the exhibition "Laurent Mattio, peindre la lumière" (Laurent Mattio, painting light), dedicated to this Provencal painter (1892-1965), whose dazzling work testifies to a rare mastery of drawing, color and light. Through more than 150 paintings, watercolors and drawings, the artist's career reveals his deep attachment to the Mediterranean and its territory, between Provence and distant shores.
This major retrospective in Marseilles reveals his work in all its richness, offering a vibrant plunge into the universe of an artist for whom light was much more than a subject: it was an absolute quest.
As part of this exhibition theme, the Musée Regards de Provence is planning a series of conferences and meetings, creative workshops with guided tours adapted for the younger generation and schoolchildren to raise awareness of art and experience our heritage in a different way, and yoga classes in the midst of the works. These events, dedicated to exchange, transmission and sharing, and these unusual experiences, are rich, sensitive and convivial moments to listen to the testimonies, let yourself be carried by the creation and inspired by the works.
