An exceptional event

Monte-CristoThe Défi de Monte-Cristo is without doubt a human adventure, often the challenge of a lifetime for some, and an extraordinary sporting experience where surpassing oneself rhymes with courage & determination. Whether you’re taking part in the race or just watching, this open-water race promises to be a thrilling experience! 10 events are on the program, starting from the legendary Château d’If and Ile Degaby, and finishing on the Prado beaches. With almost 5,000 participants and 50 different nationalities, the Monte Cristo challenge is Europe’s biggest open-water swimming event.

The program and its routes

The Monte Cristo Challenge is a not-to-be-missed event in Marseille in June! There will be 6 different courses starting from the Château d’If or the Ile Degaby, with different distances: 1km, 2km, 2.5km, 3.5km, 5km and 6km. To suit everyone’s level and desires!

Friday May 31st

8.30am: 5km without fins – 1st wave
9.30am: 5km without fins – 2nd wave
The maximum time to swim the 5km is 2.30pm

2.30pm: 3.5km without fins
The maximum time to swim the 3.5km is 1h45

19h: 2km with or without fins – After work
The maximum time to swim the 2km is 1h
20h: After Work

Saturday June 1st
8h30: 5km with fins – Département Bouches-du-Rhône – 1ère vague
9h30: 5km with fins – Département Bouches-du-Rhône – 2ème vague
The maximum time to swim the 5km is 2h30

14h
: 2.5km without fins – Les Terrasses du Port
The maximum time for swimming the 2.5km is 1h20

16h
: 2km with or without fins – TeamThe maximum time for swimming the 2km is 1h

Sunday June 2
8h30: 5km without fins – Région Sud
The maximum time for swimming the 5km is 2h30
9h30: 6km without fins – Région Sud
The maximum time for swimming the 6km is 2h45.

14h: 2.5km with fins
Maximum time to swim the 2.5km is 1h20

16h00: 1km with or without fins
Maximum time to swim the 1km is 45 minutes
