The Vieux-Port and especially the South bank. It is the heart of the “planet Marseille” which gathers all the ingredients to enjoy a stay in the city.

Gently sloping beach and supervised swimming

A child-friendly beach should have a gentle slope so that you can stay on the water for a long time and play safely. You’re also looking for calm waters, with few or no waves and gentle currents, so you can swim or play captain in your inflatable boat without the risk of capsizing or being swept out to sea.

A lifeguard station with lifeguards doesn’t mean you don’t need constant supervision… But you’ll certainly gain peace of mind thanks to the presence of these summer guardian angels.

This beach in Marseille combines all these ingredients to offer you a day at the seaside with your family in the safest possible conditions!

More than a beach, a lively place

What would a day at the beach be without an ice cream, a cold drink, a crêpe, a waffle or some churros? There are snack bars, cafés, refreshment stands and restaurants nearby for a gourmet family break.

If your children like to be active, there are also playgrounds and sports fields nearby. There are also large lawns where you can sunbathe while the kids run around and play to their heart’s content.

There are changing rooms to help you put on your swimming costume, and lockers to store your belongings. Showers wash away the sand and salt after each dip, and sanitary facilities are on hand to deal with any pressing needs.

Everything you need for a full day at the beach with the whole family!

The Prado beaches, THE summer destination for children

Marseille’s dream beach is located to the south of the city. It’s not really a beach, but rather a series of beaches stretching from the Corniche to the Pointe Rouge: the Prado beaches.

The Prado Nord beaches are lined with cafés and restaurants, and a play area delights the children. They can also run and play on the vast lawns.

The Prado Sud beaches are not to be outdone, and l’Escale Borély has the air of a family seaside resort, transporting you to the most popular tourist destinations on the Côte d’Azur. After a few hours’ swimming, you can take your children to the Bowl du Prado to admire the tricks of the talented skateboarders who have come to train in this world-famous skatepark.

The icing on the cake is that the Prado beaches are easily accessible by car, thanks to several pay-and-display car parks, and are served by public transport: simply take the metro (M2) to Rond Point du Prado station, then bus 19.
