Yann Arthus-Bertrand photographs Marseille

Renowned photographer Yann Arthus-Bertrand will set up his studio in Marseille, on La Canebière street, from 17 to 20 December, to capture the soul of the people of Marseille. This initiative is part of his ambitious project “The French and those living in France”, a visual and social exploration of French identity.

A photo project to reveal the French identity

For more than 30 years, Yann Arthus-Bertrand has been travelling around France with his itinerant studio, immortalising anonymous people and celebrities alike. This photographic work brings together unique portraits that draw a true panorama ofFrench society. The project has a demographic and educational dimension, carried out in collaboration with demographer Hervé Le Bras.

The photographs collected will be presented in books published by  Actes Sud and a travelling exhibition throughout France. For Yann Arthus-Bertrand, this is an essential question:  what does it mean tobe French today?

Marseille, a must-see

From 17 to 20 December, the photo studio of  Yann Arthus-Bertrand is located at  61 La Canebière. The Marseille Tourist Office and Convention bureau is associated with this operation, a unique opportunity for residents to participate in this artistic and human adventure. Each participant is invited to come alone, with family, friends or even with colleagues. Bright or everyday outfits are encouraged, as well as the contribution of personal objects illustrating their identity.

In return, each participant will receive a free digital version of their photo, a souvenir to cherish.

Yann Arthus-Bertrand, a committed photographer

Author of the famous book  La Terre vue du ciel and director of documentaries such as  Home and Human, Yann Arthus-Bertrand is known for his commitment to ecology and humanism. His  GoodPlanet foundation promotes ecological awarness, and his photographic work highlights the beauty and diversity of our world.

In 2023, he adds his photographic project which begun in the 1990s with an unprecedented perspective, exploring the social and cultural dynamics of contemporary France.
