In some squares, the playgrounds can still be used but are under the responsibility of parents who must ensure that health regulations are respected, including physical distance.
This 11.3 hectare park, developed in successive phases since the 1970s, is located in the Bon Secours district, near the Merlan life center. Its topography offers a panoramic view of the harbor of Marseille (Frioul Islands to the west), the Massif de l'Etoile and the Vallon Dol reservoir to the north, and the Basilica of Notre-Dame de la Garde and the Marseilleveyre massif to the south.
In 1969, the land was acquired with the project to build social housing. However, the demands of local residents for the protection of this site led to the creation of a large urban park, with vast areas of lawn, groves of typically Mediterranean vegetation, a fitness trail, playgrounds, etc. Recent works have allowed the requalification of the retention basin, intended for the storage of rainwater.
