Built in 1821 at the request of Christian refugees, the church of St. Nicholas of Myra is the oldest eastern church in Europe and one of the first Greek Catholic churches.
Founded by the Archbishop of Myre, Mgr Maximos Mazloum and inaugurated by the Archbishop of Aix en Provence, Mgr Fd de Beausset, this building is original by its typically oriental architecture, by its decoration and especially by its bi-ritualism: since its creation, services of the Roman and Byzantine rites are celebrated in alternation.
