Ecologically responsible restaurant

If, like me, you like to know what’s on your plate, I’ve put together an initial selection of Ecotable restaurants for you to try and enjoy responsibly. Episode 2 will be coming soon! What is the Ecotable label? It’s one of the most widely recognized restaurant labels in France! It offers restaurateurs of all kinds the opportunity to make a step-by-step commitment to the planet and the health of their customers, by supporting them in their ecological transition. The Marseille Tourist Office, in partnership with the Région SUD, supports restaurateurs wishing to obtain the label.

Les Jardins du Cloître

Le Cloître is a unique place in Marseille, in the heart of the northern districts of the 13th arrondissement. This project is a collaboration between the Fondation des Apprentis d’Auteuil, and social entrepreneurs and managers of major groups who are committed to social inclusion through their economic activity. The former convent is now home to a superb restaurant: Les Jardins du Cloître. The restaurant offers healthy, eco-responsible and socially committed cuisine. The Apprentis d’Auteuil make up a large part of the staff, training daily in the restaurant trade through the Jardins. Everything is cooked with fresh, seasonal and local produce, mainly from organic and sustainable agriculture. The venue also hosts concerts and shows throughout the year!

Les Eaux de Mars

Noémie and Arthur have transformed Les Eaux de Mars, a little bar on Rue Consolat, into a young, friendly bistro. All day long, Monday to Friday, you can come in at 10am for a coffee! For lunch or dinner, it’s ideal too, a “living” restaurant with local, seasonal and organic produce, and a natural wine list (direct from the winemakers). The restaurant has held the Ecotable label for several years now. A sure bet for good food and a good time.

Bouillon

Looking for a Bouillon in Marseille? Head to the Camas district to discover the cuisine and wines of Auregan and Mathieu. At lunchtime (Thursday to Saturday), you’ll find classic bistro dishes, but with the finest local produce, and even a charcuterie proposition, Auregan’s specialty! And in the evenings (Monday to Saturday), the plates get smaller so you can share them with friends over a bottle of natural wine, well recommended by Mathieu. What’s more, the restaurant has the Ecotable label!

Hododa

Hododa, the vegetarian canteen, is located at 15 rue de l’Evéché! From Wednesday to Sunday (8am-3.30pm), come and try out their brand-new all-vegetarian menu, including omelettes, tartines, soups and, of course, cookies and vegetarian pastries. Super-generous portions, perfect seasoning, whether you’re a big or small eater, you’ll leave satisfied.

L'Abri

L’Abri is the wine cellar where you can have a good time in summer and winter alike. Their grapes are grown in the Alpilles, hand-picked and vinified on site above the Vieux-Port near the Abbaye Saint-Victor! Careful decoration, refined dishes to share and a focus on local produce… Joining the Ecotable label was a no-brainer for Edgar and Frank. If you’re looking for a new place to try out in the 7th arrondissement, make a stop at l’Abri, you won’t regret it.
