La Descente des Accoules is Marseille's oldest winery still in operation. It was founded in 1899 by a certain Mr. Mattei.
Since then, it has been located in the heart of the Panier district, at no. 4 rue de l'évéché, near Place de Lenche.
With no real name since its origins ("Vins et Liqueurs"), since 2006 it has been called "La Descente des Accoules", in reference to its activity and to the Montée des Accoules, just a few meters away.
