Port of Vallon des Auffes

The Vallon des Auffes owes its name to the auffe (or auffo in Provençal), a plant used to make ship's ropes and fishing nets. The little port is home to dozens of typical, colorful fishermen's cottages, as well as their boats, including several pointus, typical Provencal boats that add charm to the area. A 60-m bridge spans the harbor, built in the 19th century by Jean François Mayor de Montricher, at the same time as the Corniche Kennedy. Three 17m-high arches complete the structure.
