Ciel Rooftop

On the ground, Marseille already shines, but from a height, the city shows its true splendor. Ciel, a new spot in the heart of downtown, offers a 360° panorama of Marseille and the Bonne Mère, the nickname of the Notre-Dame de la Garde basilica. Ciel welcomes you with a minimalist decor, featuring sleek white furnishings, wooden floors and glass walls, so you can take full advantage of the view, even while seated at the table. At the entrance to the restaurant, a small swing has been set up so you canimmortalize a few shots with a view, to post on Instagram as a souvenir of your visit.

The Reformed

Perched atop the Artplexe cinema, the Réformés rooftop overlooks the Marseilles district from which it takes its name. On one side, it overlooks the Église des Réformés, and on the other, the Basilica of Notre-Dame de la Garde. With a central location in Marseille, this place has boosted the district, which until now had been little exploited. With its vintage decor, the cuisine served on this rooftop terrace is inventive and rich in flavor. The menu includes “octopus snack”, “beet tatin” and “charcoal-smoked trout”, all based on local produce. If you want to combine gastronomy, conviviality, music and a panoramic view of Marseille, this is undoubtedly the place to be when you visit the city.

The R2

Combining the Terrasses du Port rooftop and Le Reverso restaurant, R2 is part of a new events and catering area in Marseille. With one of the best roof terraces in Europe, the Rooftop offers an exceptional view of Marseille and the Mediterranean Sea, with the Frioul Islands and Côte Bleue in the distance. With a capacity of up to 2,000 people in a 1,250 sq. m. space, the Rooftop presents a weekly program of French and international artists and DJs, keeping party-goers dancing until 2 a.m. at the latest. Concerts, exhibitions, outdoor screenings, street-food and private events are also organized in the plant-decorated R2. Every day, the sunset offers a breathtaking spectacle you won’t soon forget.

The rooftop of the Hôtel Hermès

This well-hidden rooftop (we bet you haven’t heard of it yet! ) is located on the corner of rue Coutellerie and rue Bonneterie, just above the 29-roomHôtel Hermès de Marseille. In spring and summer, the hotel bar welcomes you to its rooftop terrace for an incredible view of the city and its Old Port, from the Panier district in the 2nd arrondissement. To get there, climb the stairs to enjoy the Mediterranean panorama, while sipping a cocktail or glass of rosé.
