Tourism observatory

The Observatoire de l’Office du Tourisme, des Loisirs et des Congrès de Marseille (Marseille Tourism, Leisure and Convention Bureau Observatory) provides a 360° panorama of tourism activity in France’s second-largest city.

A genuine tool for steering the City’s tourism strategy, the Observatory collects, analyzes and valorizes data in order to quantify and decipher changes in the sector, decipher market trends, and support the City of Marseille’s development strategy towards more inclusive and sustainable tourism.

The Observatory’s role is to support the 4 directions outlined by the City of Marseille in its new tourism strategy ” Marseille, a sustainable and attractive destination: 2024-2030 strategy for the responsible development of tourism and leisure “:

  • Marseille, a responsible destination
  • Marseille, any time, any season
  • Marseille for everyone
  • Marseille, an innovative destination and “tourism factory”.

Its missions:

  • Facilitate political decision-making: better knowledge for better action
  • Inform tourism professionals of market trends and results
  • Promote the destination by producing analyses and figures
  • Analyze the effectiveness of destination-wide initiatives
